The Blue Room

Okay...these are my notes about daycare to write down so I don't forget...if you want to see photos just skip this and look at the red park photos below!

This month Braxton moved into the Blue Room at Daycare (age 27-33 months).  The goals of the Blue Room are:  sequencing (a-b-c, 1-2-3, small to big, days of the week), independence (pouring water, brushing teeth), discussion (Question of the Week), identification (How many "g"'s are in this sentance?) and pre-school prep (tracing words, how to hold a pencil, how to use a scissors, how to squeeze the glue).

This classroom also has rules! They are:
  1.  We can march, skip, hop and walk in the classroom.
  2.  Our feet belong on the floor.
  3.  If we take it out, we clean it up.
  4.  We use gentle touches
  5.  Our listening ears are ALWAYS on

Each day Braxton's teachers fill out a sheet about the day which is broken down into skills.  Some things written on the sheet this week were:
Self-Help Skills - We practiced taking off our shoes and putting them on.
Learning Statement - We used patience while waiting in line to go outside.
Social Skills - We helped our friends pick up the toys after we made a mess.
My Favorite Activity Today - Playing outside on the slide.

There is also a spot at the bottom of the sheet for the teacher to leave comments.  This week his teacher wrote "Braxton had fun today building a tall tower with the blocks." She also wrote  "Braxton makes me smile!  I asked him what his favorite farm animal was and he answered, 'yeah, a chicken.'"  Because Braxton knows many letters of the alphabet--his teachers will be giving him a preschool alphabet recognition test sometime soon.
