We love construction!

Cedar Avenue by our house is currently under construction and Braxton loves seeing the trucks!  This morning we drove to the gas station parking lot so we could watch the trucks work.  Braxton loved it!

The boys love MASH

Today Braxton and I left the house at 7am to go play at the park before the thunderstorms rolled in.  Braxton loved looking at the airplane at Aronson Park.  He kept saying, "Look at that airplane! It's just like MASH!"

Brock has been checking out old M.A.S.H. episodes from the library lately and Braxton likes to watch MASH too...and talk about it. The other day Braxton saw a white jeep driving down the road and said, "it's an army jeep - just like MASH!

Heatwave 2011

We have officially survived the heatwave of 2011 - which included a week of very humid 90+ weather, early morning swimming, building block towers, reading books, playing with Mickey Mouse ears, coloring with markers and feeling very, very blessed to have central air!

Mommy Smiles

Sometimes Braxton is so cute!  After going outside to do an errand with daddy Braxton came into the house and presented me with these little yellow flowers.

Also, this video features a phrase that Braxton just started saying "mommy, you look pretty".  It makes me smile.

A story and a song

First the story ... on Thursday Brock was home with Braxton for the day and they were sharing an orange tootsie pop sucker.  Once the orange "sucker" part was gone Braxton looked the tootsie roll part and said, "Oh no!  What's that daddy? Oh no! It's poopy!" Brock laughed and said, "I don't know.  What is it?"  After Braxton continued to look concerned, Brock told him "It's not poopy it's chocolate. Just taste it." Braxton looked at Brock and said, "If it's not poopy YOU eat it!"

Next the song...one of our local parks has an outdoor xylophone.  Here's a video of Braxton playing it.

Duluth with Grandma

On Friday Grandma Debbie had surgery on her fractured shoulder and over the weekend she developed some complications from the surgery.  Braxton and I went to Duluth to visit grandma in the hospital.
Because she had surgery on her left shoulder and her right arm had an IV in it - the hospital had to resort to unusual methods and took her blood pressure on her legs!
The hospital staff were nice and we are thankful that Grandma Debbie is feeling much better now.

Braxton did a good job being quiet at the hospital.  It helped that our hotel had a pool so Braxton and I could go swimming each morning before going to the hospital and each evening after being with grandma.

4th of July Weekend

We had a great 4th of July weekend.  It started out with Braxton modeling his fabulous new Elmo light-up shoes which were given to us by my college roommate Lisa and her son Jack.
Then came the required "let's see how fast I can run in my new shoes!"

We went to the parade in Apple Valley (thankfully we brought an umbrella because it was HOT!  We hid under the umbrella the entire parade and still got sunburned!)
When Brock got home from work we lit sparklers to celebrate the 4th.

The next morning, Brock and Braxton had a blast swimming at the lake.

Bikes and Water

Braxton was blessed by one of our fabulous neighbors and received TWO bikes.  He was really excited!
...a video of Brock and Braxton having fun with shadows

...and today we spent time at a local lake and went wading in the water.

Park Challenge 2011

Our summertime goal is to visit every playground in our city.   Our favorite Lakeville park so far has been North Park.

...and here is a video of our fearless boy climbing up the tires at North Park (which are 4 feet off the ground).
